Fictional series or collections.

Series have protagonists that recur over the course of several novels; collections share an author or topic.

Sea Room maintains an inventory of the following lists using US publishers and imports. Some titles have multiple formats: Hardback and paperback, of course, but also "tradebook," about 5.5 x 8.5; imported paperback, about 6x9; and mass-market paperback, about 5x6.

Kenneth Roberts*
A writer from the 40s who told the Loyalist's side of the American Revolutionary War
Richard Woodman*
Rivals Kent for his stories of the Royal Navy in Nelson's time.
Alexander Kent*
A continuing series covering Bolitho from Midshipman to his rise to admiral.
Showell Styles*
Four Complete Novels in one Cover.  Young Adult books from the 60's, entertaining, authentic, and the same period as POB and Hornblower.
Joseph Conrad.  Perhaps the greatest nautical writer but work extends beyond  the Age of Sail. David Donachie
Mystery stories about the Age of Sail.  Brings you to authentic, exotic locales.
Patrick O'Brian
POB was the inspiration for Sea Room. Unknown but outstanding. We'll be selling his books for many more years.
James L. Nelson

One of the best current writers with three different series active.

Wilder Perkins
An unusual Naval Officer with a strange disability and unique career based on his unique talents.  And Jane Austen.
C. S. Forester
Everyone's favorite, Horatio Hornblower, who has read has had read Hornblower stories earlier.
Dewey Lambdin
Alan Lewrie is an imperfect man in a extremely readable series.  Alan rises through several classes of vessels and you learn much about them.
Capt. F. Marryat
Not historical novels.  Marryat served with Nelson and wrote these sea novels for an audience contempory to Nelson, Austen, and others.  Not a series since each book has new characters but all reek of the sea.
Arthur Ransome
The most popular "read-aloud" book about sail.  For children and adults
Dudley Pope
Another chance to watch a rise from Midshipman to Admiral.  Ranks with Woodman and Kent.  Pope, an historian, knows his ships and his period.
Victor Suthren
Ronald Wanttaja

A contemporary writer of especially good Young Adult books.

Young Adult and Children's Books by several authors. Julian Stockwin

Tom Connery William White
