A community of interests has built up over time around Sea-Room.
Consisting of individuals each of whom share one or two
interests from a group of interests. Some interests were
apparent from the beginning but increased or grew with the passage
of time. To name some as examples and also to show their
diversity: The Aubrey-Maturin historical novels, Patrick O'Brian as
a writer, parallel historical novel series like the Horatio
Hornblower series From which follow books on maritime and naval
history, the technology that supports following the sea as a
profession, grand strategies such as Sea Power, the impact of the
age of enlightenment and the age of exploration on each other.
The act of writing, particularly nautical subjects, has drawn
together authors to discuss common interests.
Not the least of these interests is passing on the lore of the
sea to a younger generation. (More about this later.)
The banner down the left side of this page provides hyper links to
each of these interests.
