IN A NUTSHELL.

 W. W. Norton began issuing paperbacks of the Aubrey-Maturin series in a new format which doesn't shelve well with the earlier edition.  The new edition is taller and the Geoff Hunt paint is more cropped to allow a neutral background for a bigger banner of Patrick O'Brian's name.

The newer edition, though having the same ISBNs as the older, has a different cover and larger dimensions.
